Assistant or Associate Professor of Environmental and Science Education

The Department of Teaching and Learning in the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education at the University of Montana in collaboration with the Environmental Studies Program announces a search for a jointly appointed Assistant or Associate Professor of Environmental and Science Education. We seek applications for a full-time assistant or associate professor to teach Environmental and Science Education education courses in a dynamic, inquiry-based teacher education program. The position includes teaching and advising students seeking teaching licenses in secondary science, teaching environmental education to undergraduate and graduate students, and overseeing the Environmental Education Certificate program at the graduate level. General responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising candidates in field placements, research, service, and advising. Preference will be given to applicants who show: 1) teaching and training experiences in K-12 schools as well as the informal educational settings, and 2) an ability to work and collaborate with diverse groups on campus and in the community. This position begins Autumn of 2023.
 
Required Experience

• Earned doctorate (ABD with expectation of completion by hire date) in Environmental Education or Science Education or a closely related field
• Experience teaching and training environmental education and/or secondary science in K-12 schools and classrooms and related education settings
• Established record of scholarship or potential to do so

 
Desired Qualifications

• Experience teaching and working with students and organizations that address diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Experience with University-based certificate programs and accreditation in Environmental Education and Secondary Science instruction
