Are you an energetic self-starter? Passionate about avian wildlife? Seeking a future career in the wildlife education field? REGI may have the Summer Education Internship for you. REGI is a non-profit organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned native bird species and public education on wildlife issues.

Summary

REGI is looking for a hardworking, energetic, flexible, and fun intern with a passion for teaching for the summer of 2022. The intern’s main responsibilities will include assisting in daily husbandry (cleaning and enclosure maintenance), handling, feeding, and observing behaviors of our avian ambassador collection. Interns will participate in on-site, public raptor tours, public outreach programs at libraries, schools, camps,and more! Ed interns play a vital role in planning activities and lessons for our half-day, on site Raptor Adventures summer camps! Training will be provided for all these areas. Extensive training is provided to all interns in the handling of our avian ambassador collection. Interns are expected to work long hours. We are working with live animals that do not adhere to an 8-hour schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong interest in environmental education and captive wildlife care
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining daily tasks
• High degree of self initiative and willingness to challenge yourself in new situations
• Enjoys interacting with children and adults of all ages; Strong communication skills
• Pursuing a degree in environmental education, wildlife, captive wildlife, biology, or closely related field. Other fields of interest will be considered.
• Willing to be a positive, enthusiastic member of a small, dedicated team
• Willing to represent the mission and goals of our organization in a way that reflects positively on REGI
• Experience working at or managing summer camp programs preferred but not required.
• Intern should be able to adapt to flexible hours and schedules depending on programmatic needs and bird care needs
• Interns will be required to work and teach outdoors in all weather condition. Physical demands include being on your feet 8+ hours per day, kneeling, lifting 50lbs

Dates: Mandatory orientation date May 24th, 2022.  Internships continue through mid- August. Ending date is flexible. 

Housing: This is an unpaid internship, but on-site, furnished housing will be provided by the Raptor Education Group, Inc.
