Looking for counselors from end of June to the first week in September for when local schools are on summer vacation. We are a nature based camp and are located on 100 acres of beautiful property 10 minutes from Ithaca. Paid CPR/First aid training is available as well.

Summary

Cayuga Nature Center Camp is a long-standing stapel in the Ithaca and Trumansburg area for summer-camp fun outdoors. We pride ourselves on serving our community with fun activities and outdoor games, while incorporating environmental education to the young naturalists that attend our summer programs and camps. 

This year we are looking for counselors for the following types of camps that we offer here at the Nature Center: Preschool (3-5 yr olds), Explorer (6 to 10 yr olds) Backwoods base camp (10 to 13 yr olds), and Animal Camp (7-9 and 10-13). All counselors will be responsible to care for campers safety and well being while leading games and activities. All educational materials will be provided for you. 

The dates for this position are from June 27 to September ___. And the hours are from 8:30 to 4:30 and 8:30-5:00 with a 45 minute break. Pay rate is $15.50/hr with both a paid staff training and a CPR/First Aid course that is paid for. Staff training dates are highly encouraged to attend and if those dates conflict with previous plans, you are responsible to come into the office and pick up the written information to review and then discuss with the Camp Director. The dates for staff training are as follows: May 14th, 21th and 28th. CPR/First Aid training are to be announced. 

Another position that is available is a “Lead Counselor”. This position would entail giving people breaks, running supplies that are needed, offering coverage to counselors, cleaning and general camp upkeep.  Must be able to work with all ages. This position’s pay rate is $15.75/hr.

Please Note: The company Paleontological Research Institute will require all persons hired as temporary summer camp counselors in our Cayuga Nature Center to show proof of having received a department of health approved Covid vaccine.  This temporary requirement is being instituted to protect the safety and health of PRI and Cayuga Nature Center employees, camp attendees and other persons that provide services to this operation and is designed to support the public health objectives of our community, provided this hiring requirement complies with NY State and Federal guidelines and directives.
