Summary: The Environmental Educator develops and implements creative and educational programs for our guests. This position will be fully responsible for planning and executing seasonal camps, as well as managing seasonal camp staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Zoology, Education, or related field.

• 1-2 working in a related field

-Demonstrated passion for conservation and education

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience presenting topics related to natural resources to a diverse audience

• Ability to perform to high standards with tight and demanding schedules.

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, volunteers, general public, and media.

• Ability to effectively prioritize work/goals.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time appropriately.

• Ability to lead, coach and inspire all members of the team.

• Professional manner • Ability to work with others (team oriented)

• Understanding of CRC mission

• Understanding of educational and interpretive methods

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for hiring and managing two part-time, seasonal camp counselors

Essential Functions

A. Annual Events

-Maintain a calendar of annual events for guests to participate in at CRC including STEAM Day, International Vulture Awareness Day, Owloween, and quarterly speaker series

-Create meaningful partnerships with organizations to implement events

-Manage all event logistics including rentals, reservations, confirmation emails, and ticketing Identify marketing opportunities and support event marketing

-Collaborate with staff to manage and implement events as well as identify future event topics and themes

B. Administrative Tasks

-Assist in staff and team meetings Identify opportunities for new revenue generating programs

-Develop evaluation methods for programs and events and maintain data collection efforts

-Ensure events and programs are appropriately scheduled and marketed in a timely manner

-Develop programs that invite a diverse audience

-Assist in organizational committees and teams as needed

-Participate in continuing education opportunities

C. Camps (Summer, Winter, Spring Break)

-Recruit, interview, hire, train, and manage part-time camp staff and volunteers.

-Develop and implement new camp curriculum, classes, and schedules.

-Communicate with parents regarding registration and other issues.

-Work with other staff and outside organizations to plan and conduct camp activities.

D. On-Trail Activities

-Assist Resident Bird team in conducting Keeper Talks Research and develop creative on-trail activities for guests and groups

-Support Volunteer Manager in sharing on-trail activities with docents

-Ensure that CRC staff have a regular presence along the Raptor Trail and effectively engage with guests

E. Outreach

-Attend outreach events: visit community partners for events independently or with the Volunteer Manager

-Cultivate a relationship with important organizational partners

Physical Demands: Work in this position will include sitting, walking, bending, standing, lifting weights more than 20 lbs., hearing, stooping, balancing, depth perception, kneeling, reaching, driving a vehicle, and the ability to speak and stand for significant periods of time during educational programs.

Work Environment: Exposure to weather, extreme heat, or cold, high noise intensity level, wet and/or humid conditions. Worker will be responsible for many public events on and off-site.
