Healthy Parks Healthy People Intern

In partnership with the National Park Service Healthy Parks Healthy People program and the Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis, MobilizeGreen are offering a 52 week internship opportunity to inspire people to improve their health and wellbeing in parks, and amplify health benefits of parks and public lands. Join our team as we look to develop science-informed resources and tools to make visiting parks easier and more relatable to all people; and promote a quality, healthy visitor experience once they are there.

The Healthy Parks Healthy People intern will receive mentorship, training and networking opportunities with NPS staff and our partners, and will gain experience in the development and delivery of science-informed health promotion activities in national parks, interpretation and education program delivery, as well as communications and outreach campaigns. Applicants should also have familiarity or a strong interest in natural resources and public health, and helping contribute to a healthier, happier, sustainable world. This position will start in Spring 2023.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participate in Healthy Parks Healthy People learning and exchange opportunities in the National Park System and with key partners and organizations at local, national, and international levels.
• Support program evaluation of the NPS Healthy Parks Healthy People Wellness Challenge pilot project with seven national parks in Missouri.
• Engage in community partnership activities to facilitate participation in the NPS Wellness Challenge among underserved populations.
• Develop science-informed resources and tools to continue to refine and sustain the NPS Wellness Challenge in Missouri national parks and nationally.
• Advance strategic opportunities and technical support to foster the expansion of the NPS Wellness Challenge in national parks beyond the state of Missouri.
• Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities over the course of the internship.
• Prepare an Accomplishments Report at the close of the project.
