Hiking and Activity Leader
Needed for Teatown Natural Science Day Camp
June 27 – August 19, 2022
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18+. One year of experience working with young children (age 4 to 14) necessary. Interest in environmental education helpful but not necessary, experience and/or education in the natural sciences preferred. Physically active and demanding position.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily supervision and safety of small group of children ages 4 -14.
- Coordinates activities, games, and crafts for group.
- Teach children topics on natural history and the environment.
- Prepares daily lessons and organizes materials to carry out activities.
- Attends all staff meetings, training, and evaluation sessions.
- Works in conjunction with Director and Assistant Director to keep parents informed.
- Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of equipment.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Eight weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:30 - 3:30
TRAINING PLAN
- Required attendance during weeklong training program, June 20 – June 24, 2022 (exceptions will be made for school related absence). Training covers safety procedures (including CPR/ First Aid certification), group dynamics, activity ideas, lesson planning, tour of buildings and grounds.
SALARY
- Starting at $2,500 – depending on experience
