Summary
The Woodlands Nature Station serves as the main interpretive nature center for the U.S. Forest Service’s Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, a 170,000-acre forest nestled between two large freshwater lakes in western Kentucky and Tennessee. The interpretive activities and programs at the Nature Station focus on regional natural history, natural resource conservation, and outdoor recreation activities. https://www.facebook.com/WoodlandsNatureStation/
Job Duties:
- Develop & deliver public programs to a diversity of audiences
- Develop & deliver curriculum-based school programs
- Care of 55 species of native wildlife ambassadors including endangered red wolves, bobcat, large array of birds of prey and herps, deer, etc
- Lead outdoor excursions, like hikes, kayak & canoe trips, wildlife-viewing tours
- Care and upkeep of native pollinator gardens
- Design & manage themed special events throughout the year
- Assist in marketing, social media, virtual programming, project-based learning
Wages/ Benefits: full-time (40/week), $11.74/hour, health FSA, 25 days paid-time off
