Summary
The Liberal Studies Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level specializing in science education and/or environmental education, with a clear research and teaching emphasis in critical race, decolonial, Black, Indigenous, Latina/o/x, and/or AAPI perspectives, theories, and methods. The position requires teaching experience at the undergraduate or post-baccalaureate level and evidence of professional and scholarly productivity commensurate with assistant professor status. Diverse specializations and research approaches that synthesize ethnic studies and science education and/or environmental education are welcome.
Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in a humanities, social science, or natural science discipline or a related interdisciplinary area that includes some coursework and/or research experience focused on critical approaches to environmental or science education. A successful candidate must demonstrate a proven ability or potential for teaching integrative courses strong in critical thinking and civic engagement at a college level, and evidence of scholarly work (conference presentations, publications, grant development) in social responsibility, social justice, and or sustainability in areas such as climate change education, cultural studies of science education, anti-racist, feminist, or queer environmental or science education, and culturally relevant/responsive pedagogies in environmental or science education.
