Summary
The Field Logistics Assistant position is TEMPORARY 6-month FULL-TIME position with EarthCorps. This position plays a critical support role to our field operations team by ensuring the habitat restoration crews have the tools, equipment and supplies necessary to accomplish project goals, and by performing hands-on field coordination and implementation as a project Assistant. This position also plays critical role in onsite communication with crews, task coordination, problem solving, onsite oversite and quality control. This position requires the ability to work both independently and as a team. The Logistics Assistant divides their time between logistical support and fieldwork coordination and implementation. The Field Logistics Assistant will also serve as an informal advisor and mentor to EC crews. This position is managed and supervised by EarthCorps’ Senior Logistics Operation Manager.
Logistics Support:
- Work with and support project managers and field team with implementation of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Ensure all camping gear is in excellent working condition
- Assist crews with packing and unpacking for camping trips and crew days
- Follow proper food handling procedures and keep food storage and food handling areas clean.
- Assist with implementing safety and security procedures in the field and EarthCorps facility
- Annual fundraising logistical support
- Other duties as assigned
Crew Support/Leadership
- Support crews when they leave in the morning and when they return in the afternoon (loading tools, storing tools, filling water tanks, returning from camping trips, etc.
- Enforce EarthCorps policies relating to safety and proper use of personal protection equipment, tools, and equipment
- Enforce EarthCorps policies relating to public health and the spread of infection, tactics dependent on the most recent public health guidelines
- Deliver materials to crews working in the field as needed
- Assist crews with weekly systems
- Assist crews with EarthCorps understanding and navigating EarthCorps systems, policies, and procedures
- Lead by example while working alongside EC crews in all weather conditions
- Lead by example by modeling reasonable work pace, positive attitude, problem solving skills, active listening, and good communication skills
Administration
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings
- Conduct effective and timely communication with supervisor, field staff and corps members
- Prepare timely oral and written reports, which may include timesheets, work projects summaries, receipts documentation, equipment use and maintenance logs, effective feedback, and incident reports
Compensation Information
Salary and Benefits
- $28.85/hour
