Lead a group of campers in exploring nature, playing games, engaging with environmental science, adventuring with goats, and learning about farming at The Crest’s Nature Summer Day Camp. Spend your summer in nature at the beautiful 445-acre Willow-Witt Ranch in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument outside Ashland, Oregon!

Summary

The Crest is an educational non-profit based at Willow-Witt Ranch – a beautiful 445-acre property in the mountains of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument east of Ashland, OR. Bring your background and enthusiasm for outdoor environmental education to this experience. Share the magic of our quiet forests, restored wetlands, and wildflower meadows with children from the Rogue Valley!

Join the team at The Crest where you will organize and run a week’s worth of engaging activities for campers. These may include games, crafts, hikes, songs, basic science investigations, farm tasks, and habitat restoration projects. We will have some of these to hand off to you that have worked well in the past, but we also want you to bring fresh ideas and topics that feed your passion and resonate with our setting. Campers will range in age from 6-11, grouped by age. Groups will consist of 10-15 kids. In order to provide a high-quality camp experience in a safe and fun environment, you will have an assistant that can help you set up, clean up and run the activities, take kids to the bathroom, fill water bottles, apply band-aids, act as sweep on a hike, etc. We ask that you cultivate a warm and respectful “team-mate” relationship with your assistant and not only treat them well but allow them to run a craft, game or hike activity on a regular basis, as needed.

The Crest offers an open, accepting, and supportive culture that aims to meet the needs of each individual. This means we train our staff in adverse childhood experiences, trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning (ACES/TIC/SEL) and work constructively with each camper and staff member to support everyone’s social, emotional, mental, and behavioral health while on our property.

Training Days: June 13 - 17, hours and days TBD

Desired Qualifications:

● CPR/First Aid certified ● Positive, flexible, helpful, patient attitude ● Experience in environmental education ● Interest or background in ACES/TIC/SEL ● Group management and leadership skills ● Enthusiasm for the outdoors and camp

Hours and Compensation: $25 per hour, 40 hours per week. M - F, 8am - 4pm. 12 weeks of camp offered in 2022: June 13 - Sept 2 (The July 4th week will be Tu - Fri)

Scheduling to be coordinated and is based on individual availability. We require a commitment to an entire week or weeks, not individual days.

There will be a bus and carpools running from the Rogue Valley to camp that you may be able to plan on for transportation.
