We need a camp nurse or LVN to take care of all the boo boos, owies, and medications for about 130 kids every week at science camp. We are located at approximately 6000 ft. elevation up in the beautiful San Bernardino mountains. Mostly sunshine, but a decent amount of precipitation including snow! Maybe you are tired of being indoors, fluorescent lighting, no views, and a lot of blood and guts emergencies, OD's and whatever making your life difficult. Take a break, join us! Great views!

Summary

This position will begin in late October of 2022 and end approximately of May,2023 

Salary:  $32.00 per hour plus a $300 month stipend for health insurance. 

    We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person who likes working with ten to thirteen year-old children in a mountain setting. The candidate selected will be willing to live on site during camp operations. San Gorgonio OSS generally is open Tuesday morning from 8:30AM until Friday afternoon 1:00PM. This is a 40 hour week with on call availability at all hours of the school operation. 

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of medication effects and proper administration procedures including the dispensing  of prescription and OTC medications. 

Knowledge of modern medical terminology, equipment and techniques.

Maintaining Accepted methods and principles of personal hygiene for staff and students.

Diagnosing, assessing and treating student illnesses and minor injuries.

Maintains Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Demonstrates a command oral and written communication skills 

Knowledge of Health and safety regulations. 

Demonstrates use of Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

Demonstrates meticulous Record-keeping techniques including processing student medical forms. 

Making referrals if necessary.

Effectively communicate with parents, school administrators, teachers and staff.

Providing basic first aid and TLC for minor injuries and illness

Provide any other duties related to nursing as requested by the site director.

ABILITY TO:

Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action during routine and emergency situations.

Identify various health needs, and unusual and critical cases such as child abuse and recommend appropriate actions.

Establish and maintain files, records, reports and referrals. 

Train and provide health information to students and staff.  

Communicate effectively in writing.

Communicate effectively orally with both adults and students including students identified as special needs.  

Plan and organize work. 

Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 

Sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Bend at the waist and turn/twist to examine students and administer first aid and or CPR.

Walk or hike in irregular terrain for one to two miles over gravel, dirt, mud and or snow.

Observe physical symptoms of medical conditions.
