The School-Year Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing a variety of programs during the school-year. The School-Year Program Manager will hire, train, and directly supervise at least two full-time year-round Program Coordinators, a team of full-time instructors, and a team of part-time instructors.

Summary

The School-Year Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing a variety of programs during the school-year. The current school year offerings include a local after school program, on-site residential, and off-site camping-based field trips for visiting schools, outdoor education programs in local schools, a teacher training program, and the Girls in STEM Program.  The School-Year Program Manager will hire, train, and directly supervise at least two full-time year-round Program Coordinators, a team of full-time instructors, and a team of part-time instructors. In collaboration with the Director of Education and Marketing team, the School-Year Program Manager also develops new programs and curriculum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Staff and Program Management

  • Provide direct supervision and management to year-round Program Coordinators;
  • Collaborate with Human Resources team to hire, train, and coach program instructors;
  • Collaborate with Program Managers and Coordinators to schedule, train, and evaluate program instructors assigned to each program area;
  • Provide support to program instructors and step into programming as needed in challenging behavioral, risk management, or customer service situations;
  • Serve as a person on-call for risk management scenarios periodically throughout the year.

Administration and Financial Management

  • Create and manage expense budgets for all programs under the responsibility of this position;
  • Forecast and report on all expenses associated with the implementation of programs under the responsibility of this position;
  • Partner with the Director of Education in the management and development of new program and curricula options; 
  • Teach and facilitate programs on an as-needed basis;
  • Collaborate with Program Team members to manage Colorado licensure and risk management procedures;  

Customer Service

  • Partner with the Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships and the Marketing department to support program marketing and outreach efforts;
  • Support customer experience team on an as-needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Our required education, experience, and certifications:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree;
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and CPR certifications, from an approved vendor, or the ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment;
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing staff;
  • Minimum of 2 years experience teaching outdoor education programs or in a classroom setting;
  • Minimum of 2 years experience developing science and education curricula for a field and outdoor setting;
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with current practices of risk management of the outdoor and environmental education industry;
  • Age 21+ with an excellent driving record and a valid driver's license;
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check.

In addition to the above required talents, our ideal candidate will have these preferred skills:

  • Basic comprehension of the Spanish language via written and/or verbal form;
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field such as recreation, education, or a subject in the human services field;
  • Proficiency with Google Drive and CampSite camp management software;
  • Previous employment experience at Keystone Science School.
