The Creature Conservancy is hiring a Summer Camp Educator to help with our 11 weeks of Zoo Camp from June 13th through August 26th! We teach campers from 1st grade through 9th grade using hands-on activities, crafts, and our education animals.
Summary
The Creature Conservancy (TCC) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that is committed to our mission of “Conservation through Education”. We house rescued/surrendered exotic animals, injured non-releasable wildlife, and some captive born residents. We are currently hiring for a Summer Camp Educator who will assist the Camp Director in running the summer camp program. Camps will run June 13th through August 26th.
Responsibilities:
- Implement thematic lessons and presentations for a K-12 grade aged children using zoo exhibits, hands-on activities, crafts, and more.
- Ensure a fun, educational and safe environment for children - including following COVID-19 safety guidelines.
- Incorporate best practices in formal and non-formal education and model best practices in teaching/presentation techniques and group management.
- Communicate with the Camp Director in order to maintain an organized classroom, schedule activities, keep inventory and obtain supplies as needed.
- Work with a team of educators (Camp Director and 2 education interns) to ensure effective programming.
- Assist the Camp Director that proper protocols are followed in accordance with our camp license.
- Other duties as assigned.
An ideal candidate:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Has had experience working with children or young adults.
- Has experience in public speaking.
- Is willing to go through a background check.
