Summary
Summer Camp Mentors are role models geared towards connecting children to animals and nature. The goal of summer camp is to create experiences that inspire campers to relate to and better care for the world around them and the creatures that live there. Summer Camp Mentors facilitate fun and safe opportunities for campers in preschool through 6th grade to participate in games, zoo hikes, time with nature, and up-close interactions with animals. Ideal Summer Camp Mentors are energetic, passionate about wildlife and conservation, invigorated by the outdoors, and love connecting with young people.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Preferred background in education (formal/informal)
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (not to expire during summer camp program: May- August)
- Experience working with diverse audiences and varying group size, including children (Pre-K through high school) in a formal or informal educational setting is a plus.
- Willingness to be close to varying species of animals
- Willingness to work with children on a daily basis.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and criminal background check.
