Are you a builder at heart? Maryland Curiosity Lab is launching a new studio for ages 5–7 that looks to mix the outdoor adventure of Danish forest kindergartens, Montessori materials, the learner-driven philosophy of Acton Academy, and the spirit of Outward Bound/expeditionary learning. We’re looking for someone excited to help create something from the ground up: the outdoor spaces, the daily rhythms, the adventures, and the learning environment. This is not a traditional teaching role. It’s a chance to help build a new type of program.

Summary

The Maryland Curiosity Lab, an Acton Academy affiliate in Annapolis, Maryland, is hiring an Education Innovator & Lead Guide for a new Trailhead studio serving ages 5–7.

This is a ground-floor opportunity for someone who wants to help build a new kind of learning environment for young children. The Trailhead studio will combine the Acton Academy’s learner-driven "Spark" studio design (Montessori materials, hands-on projects) with a heavy dose of nature-based adventure inspired by forest schools and Danish kindergarten models. If leading a group of excited 5 to 7-year-olds through the forest sounds like your cup of tea, this is the job for you!

We’re looking for someone who loves working with children, thrives in a startup environment, enjoys designing and improving systems, and is excited to help build a next-generation school focused on curiosity, adventure, independence, and character.

Outdoor education, forest school, Outward Bound, and/or Montessori experience is especially relevant, though formal teaching experience is not required.
