Summary
The Nature-Based Educator - Schools Team Lead serves as a member of the CFW team and will collaborate with all departments to support the greater mission of Center for Wildlife. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, along with a natural curiosity for learning and a growth mindset. Candidates should display an ability to incorporate stories, statistics, current wildlife challenges, and opportunities for citizen stewardship in spoken and written word, along with specific knowledge of New England Wildlife- range, diets, habitats, current challenges, research, and management practices. Ideal candidates will also have experience training and mentoring volunteers and interns, along with superior time management and organizational skills. BA / MS from a four-year college or university in the fields of environmental education, environmental science, wildlife ecology, biology, or zoology preferred. Interpreter or naturalist certification is a plus. 1-2 years of experience in nature-based education required. Due to the nature of programming, some nights and weekend work is a must.
The position is hourly, and includes full-time benefits such as health insurance and paid time off. Since inception CFW has treated over 65,000 injured and orphaned wild animals, and presented environmental education programming to over 100,000 community members. Center for Wildlife has recently completed fundraising, construction, and transitioning to a brand new $6M facility that includes a Nature Center, outdoor amphitheater, auditorium and indoor classroom, ambassador campus, along with access to trails as part of it’s environmental education programming opportunities.
