The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Manager of Elementary Education oversees, develops, and delivers natural science programs for elementary-aged students (e.g., Curiosity Class, Science Detectives, summer camps, etc.). This position recruits, trains, and supervises program staff and volunteers for the Museum’s Elementary Education and Summer Camp programs; provides budget oversight for fee-based programs; conducts and analyzes program evaluations; and sets Elementary Education and Summer Camp program goals and objectives.
Summary
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Manager of Elementary Education oversees, develops, and delivers natural science programs for elementary-aged students (e.g., Curiosity Class, Science Detectives, summer camps, etc.). This position recruits, trains, and supervises program staff and volunteers for the Museum’s Elementary Education and Summer Camp programs; provides budget oversight for fee-based programs; conducts and analyzes program evaluations; and sets Elementary Education and Summer Camp program goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Recruiting, training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising staff, volunteers, and interns assigned to elementary education programs such as Curiosity Classes, Science Detectives, and summer camps.
- Developing and managing the budgets for elementary education and summer camp programs.
- Designing, developing, presenting, and evaluating experiential natural science programs, many using live animals, for K-5th grade students.
- Developing supporting materials and resources for programs.
- Seeking grant funds for supporting elementary education initiatives.
- Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel required.
- Typical work schedule is 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday with 1-2 weekends a month and evening hours as needed and assigned.
