Summary
Haverford College invites applications to our available full time (40 hours per week), non-exempt, benefit eligible Haverfarm Manager The Haverfarm manager contributes to managing and developing a robust farm program at Haverford College. The manager works to strengthen connections between academic and outreach activities both on and off campus. On a day-to-day basis, the manager works on the development and maintenance of the Haverfarm, contributing to existing programs as well as developing new practices where appropriate.
Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities:
- Crop planning and maintenance of the Farm: planting seedlings, weeding, harvesting produce and watering.
- Organize Haverfarm PE classes, volunteer sessions, workshops, and special events.
- Quantify and distribute output of the garden.
- Support the Haverford beekeeping club in the management and maintenance of Haverford’s two colonies of bees during the academic year, and take the lead on summer beekeeping responsibilities.
- Maintain partnerships with off-campus community groups via educational programming, tours, and collaborative events.
- Coordinate programs and visits with Haverford and Bryn Mawr faculty to incorporate sustainable agriculture and food justice education into the classroom.
- Manage student farmers.
- Maintain detailed records of Haverfarm programs.
- Keep Haverfarm social media and website active and updated.
- Serve on the Haverford College’s Committee for Environmental Sustainability (CER) and Council on Sustainability and Social Responsibility (CSSR).
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as requested.
