Summary
All initiatives are conducted in alignment with the Monarch Conservation Implementation Plan and the AZA SAFE North American Monarch Program Plan. This position reports to the MJV Associate Director.

Primary Responsibilities:
Partnership (20%) - Foster relationships with partner organizations, important stakeholders, and representatives; develop and maintain the AZA SAFE Monarch network.
Project Coordination (30%) - Working with the MJV and the AZA SAFE Monarch steering committee, facilitate meetings, webinars, and working groups; conduct impact assessments; and organize educational sessions for the SAFE Monarch network.
Content Management and Communications (35%) - Develop, update, or uplift existing content to strategically support program objectives. For example, website and social media content, resource packets for partners and AZA members, annual reports, etc.
Grant Writing/Reporting (5%) - Track and outline project deliverables, outcomes, and results for funder reports; provide support for project idea development and grant writing.
Budget Management (5%) - Track project expenses and support budget planning for new initiatives.
Strategy (5%) - Support strategy development for AZA SAFE Monarchs program that fits within MJV’s overarching conservation strategy and JEDI framework.

Required Qualifications:
Professional Experience - A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience (or a degree in a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience).
Coordination Experience - A demonstrated ability to effectively engage and organize various stakeholders to accomplish common goals.
Virtual Facilitation Skills - Ability to effectively facilitate large online meetings and webinars with various stakeholders and diverse participants.
Communications Skills - Demonstrated communications skills, including oral presentation, writing, editing scientific content for the general public, and ability to use appropriate communication technologies with a variety of audiences.
Science Literacy - Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific concepts and information to a variety of audiences.
Workload and Project Management - Demonstrated ability to set and maintain manageable priorities and forward progress for multiple responsibilities.
Adaptability - Self-motivated ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders under general guidance from manager.
Strategic Thinking - Demonstrated ability to think strategically about sustainability and growth of the MJV’s education initiatives.
Problem Solving - Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking to seek out, identify, and communicate solutions to challenges as they arise.
Technology - Proficiency using Google suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant technology systems.
Preferred Experience:
- AZA institution experience
- Background in communications or education
- Experience specifically with monarchs/pollinators, or generally in the field of conservation
- Experience with website design and content management
- Grant writing

What to Expect
Interviews will be conducted in two phases. Successful applications will first be invited to a brief introductory interview by Zoom with a single MJV staff member. A second longer interview with multiple MJV staff and a member of the AZA SAFE Steering Committee will be invited for successful first interview candidates. We would ask for and contact references following the second interview. While unlikely, a potential short third interview may be requested as needed in final decision making. All candidates will be notified via email if their application is no longer being considered.
