Outdoor School Educator

A New Leaf School Nashville is looking for exceptional educators who have worked outdoors in nature with either preschool or elementary school-aged children. 

We are learning within a 10-acre “classroom” which includes a vegetable and flower garden, chickens, goats, an art studio, a light lab, barns, and an Exploratorium.

You will be part of a teaching team of educators who work in collaboration with each other in the Reggio way.  You will be called to both contribute towards and lead a few projects that will serve to enhance the education of the children and benefit the plants and animals on the farm.  

Qualifications:

• Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors in a related field.
• Experience in educational programming for preschool or school-aged children.
• Read and assimilate information, and write to communicate information clearly.
• Trained in CPR and First Aid (or willing to train)

Desired Qualifications:

Any combination or number of the following skills or knowledge areas is desirable for this position.

• Reggio Inspired practices.
• Emergent curriculum and project based learning.
• The desire to engage children both indoors and outdoors.
• Experience with small-scale sustainable farming (or large-scale gardening).
• Integrated pest management.
• Knowledge of native plants or animals.
• Enthusiasm and flexibility!

You must have the ability to work in all conditions throughout the year, during peak summer heat and winter frost, as well as on rainy days. We all spend a lot of time outdoors in all kinds of weather - from the youngest child to the oldest goat, it is wonderful, come and join us!
