A New Leaf is a unique Reggio Emilia inspired nature school, serving children ages 3 – 9 years of age. A large part of our learning takes place outdoors in all kinds of weather on our beautiful farm campus which includes fields, a creek, a hilly forest, as well as barns with goats and chickens, and a production garden. The ideal candidate for this job is as comfortable working in the outdoors as they are indoors.

Summary

Nature Preschool and Elementary School Teachers Needed

A New Leaf is a unique Reggio Emilia inspired nature school, serving children ages 3 – 9 years of age. A large part of our learning takes place outdoors in all kinds of weather on our beautiful farm campus which includes fields, a creek, a hilly forest, as well as barns with goats and chickens, and a production garden. The ideal candidate for this job is as comfortable working in the outdoors as they are indoors.

Qualifications needed:

  • Child Development Associates degree, or
  • Bachelors in early childhood education, or
  • Masters in early childhood education and related fields, or
  • Extensive experience working in preschools or child care centers and knowledge of Tennessee Early Childhood Developmental Standards.
  • Commitment to continued professional development.
  • Knowledge of the Reggio approach to education and willingness to work as co-researchers with the children and co-teachers to develop an emergent curriculum of projects and the exploration of "100 languages".
  • Ability to document the learning with words and photographs.
  • Stamina to hike and endurance for bug bites, ticks, and other wildlife.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in teams.
  • Patience and tools to work with children who are learning social-emotional awareness and skills.
  • Tools for establishing rituals, care for each other and for the environment.
  • Great organizational skills.
