Description:  PEEC provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain firsthand experience in the day-to-day operations of a residential center for environmental studies.  PEEC personnel are responsible for leading students in pond, stream, and forest ecologies, wildlife studies, outdoor skills, leading interpretive hikes and facilitating group initiative activities.  PEEC also hosts summer camp, scouts, universities, professional conferences, science and nature workshops, and family vacation programs on a year-round basis.

Position: The EE Instructor and Internship program at PEEC encompasses three major areas; program delivery, program development, and customer service.  Sample responsibilities include:

  • *Plan and deliver environmental education programs.
  • *Develop program activities and lessons facilitated at the center, including weeklong summer camp programs.
  • *Facility maintenance and upkeep.
  • *Receptionist activities.
  • *Willingness to work long hours as needed with a positive attitude
  • Through experiential learning, the focus of the program provides the EE Instructors & Interns with various competencies for his/her environmental career. Primary responsibilities include; teaching and support services.

Qualifications:

  • *Minimum 1 year of related college coursework. 4-year degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Education recommended. 
  •  *Demonstrated experience working with groups
  •  *Willingness to work with people of all ages in a residential setting
  • *Competency in one or more outdoor/science specialty
  • *Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED, desirable.
  • *Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required for employment.
