The Natural Areas Guest Services Manager reports to the Natural Areas Parks Administrator. This position will manage customer service and visitor engagement across the Natural Areas Division. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated management experience related to facility maintenance and operation, park and facility rental and reservation, volunteer program admin, and marketing of park facilities.

Summary

The Natural Areas Guest Services Manager reports to the Natural Areas Parks Administrator. This position will manage customer service and visitor engagement across the Natural Areas Division. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated management experience related to facility maintenance and operation, park and facility rental and reservation, volunteer program admin, and marketing of park facilities. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitors expenditures and prepares the operating budget
  • Evaluates operations and procedures for consistency, effectiveness, and compliance to state and federal laws, recommends modifications and improvements
  • Manages guest services, rides and attractions and special events

Exercises supervision over subordinate personnel

Examples of Duties

UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION

  • Manages, evaluates, and develops objectives and strategic direction for Guest Services, Rides and Attractions, Admissions, and Special Events divisions including park cleaning and safety
  • Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to assure the efficiency of operations and to achieve goals and objectives
  • Determines training needs assessments and develops training programs
  • Represents the department at meetings to provide information and answers questions
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction concerning the operation and use of equipment and materials
  • Prepares and submits bid specifications and bid requests, and recommends procurement of materials, equipment, supplies and services
  • Prepares work schedules, evaluates work flow and modifies schedules to improve efficiency and utilization of staff to insure adequate coverage
  • Monitors and enforces safety procedures to ensure safe operation of equipment and employee safety and compliance with laws and regulations
  • Monitors statistical data and comprehensive reports on program activities
  • Oversees the repair and maintenance of equipment, machinery and building facility in a timely manner with vendors, contractors and maintenance personnel
  • Meets with staff to discuss policies, operating procedures, goals and objectives, and advises staff on solutions to problems
  • Responds to complaints and inquires from the public
  • Recommends long-term program goals and methods of achieving goals
  • Develops and maintains communication and effective working relationships with metro departments and external agencies and organizations
  • Researches and recommends sustainability best practices, programs, and industry trends
  • Manages, evaluates, plans, sets objectives and strategic directions for Guest Services and Rides and Attractions divisions including park cleaning and safety
  • Manages purchase requests and bid proposals for unique and complex commodities and services
  • Performs related work
